COME TO THE CAMPOREE OF THE CENTURY!

All are welcome to attend the council's 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. Join us on June 4-6 in Forest Park for what will be the second-largest gathering of Scouts in 2010, second only to the National Jamboree, in the second largest park in the nation (second only to New York's Central Park). ScoutQuest 100 is a council-wide encampment with a variety of challenging and exciting outdoor programs for Scouts of all ages. Webelos (our current Bears), Boy Scouts, Venturers and Explorers will camp out the entire weekend (By this date in June, all Tiger Cubs should graduate into Wolves, Wolves into Bears, and Bears into Webelos).
Five huge program areas will be spread around the Park with these Themes:
- Quest for the Past
- Quest for Adventure
- Quest for Skills
- Quest for the Future/Technology
- Quest for Action
Each area will have hands-on activities designed specifically for Cub Scouts, Webelos, Boy Scouts, Venturers and Explorers.
Cub Scouts
Tiger Cubs and Wolf Cubs will be able to spend the entire day Saturday having a great time participating in events especially for them. We have reserved the Upper MUNY parking lot for Cub Scout dens and packs to come right into the center of the Park, park your cars, and be greeted there and issued your emblems and program guides. Then off you go for a day filled with fun. We recommend that you pack your lunch with you. Make sure that you plan to stay for the Campfire Show and march in with your district. Following the Show, the MUNY parking lot is a short walk and quick access out of the Park.
Webelos
Webelos dens may choose to spend the entire weekend or just for the day on Saturday.
Saturday Night Campfire Show
Art Hill will again be the location of the enormous campfire stage show. Scouts will march into the arena by district. Parents and the general public are welcome and will have special seating. If coming in just for the Show, we have made arrangements with Washington University for parking, just a short walk away. The show begins at 8:00 pm on Saturday night and will highlight our Centennial year with a bang! Literally. This thing will put to shame any campfire that Mr. Hufford has ever built!
The council started holding community-wide encampments in the 1930s. An early "camporall" -- as it was called then -- took place in Tilles Park. The council celebrated Scouting's 50th and 60th anniversaries in Forest Park. In 1982, the council camped at Jefferson Barracks Park for Adventure '82. Scouts returned to Forest Park in 1990 for Rendezvous '90, and again in 2000 for Xtreme Scouting 2000. Ask Scouts or Scouts who attended any of these events and they will likely tell you that they were a highlight of their Scouting career.
Pack 550 Scouts --- start gearing up for this event!
